You can honor Jerry McEntee virtually and in person. Here’s how.

By AFSCME Staff ,

Convention attendees wishing to share memories and pay tribute to legendary AFSCME President Jerry McEntee can do so virtually and in person.

Share your memories, anecdotes and other remembrances, including photos, at McEntee.AFSCME.org. You can also attach cards, photos and written messages on a McEntee remembrance wall that will be put up Tuesday in the Exhibit Hall.

McEntee, who joined AFSCME in 1956 and served as president for 31 years, inspired hundreds of thousands of members and befriended countless more over his long tenure. Virtually and in person, we can all together celebrate his life.

Gerald W. McEntee died in Naples, Florida, at age 87. He led our union through a historic growth period, positioning AFSCME as a powerful voice for working people and a force to be reckoned with in the civil rights movement.

A tribute video was played Monday, the opening day of the 45th AFSCME International Convention, which is being held this week in McEntee’s native Philadelphia.
