The 46th AFSCME International Convention is taking place this week in Los Angeles.
More than 4,000 AFSCME members are engaged in a flurry of activity.
They are conducting our union’s business and setting policies that will guide our union for the next two years.
They are advocating for University of California workers to secure a fair contract.
Delegates are sharpening their skills as activists and organizers and picking up new ideas and cutting-edge tools at workshops.
They are also hearing from AFSCME President Lee Saunders and Secretary-Treasurer Elissa McBride and prominent leaders like Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz — Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate — Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler.
They are strengthening their commitment to elect the Harris-Walz ticket and pro-worker candidates up and down the ballot in November.
