The 46th AFSCME International Convention offers AFSCME members a variety of training sessions to arm them with skills and strategies they can take back home to strengthen their unions.

The workshops cover every aspect of union work and then some. They will provide cutting-edge skills and allow participants to brush up on their current knowledge.

Session topics range from modernizing communications to safeguarding your union’s financial assets, from organizing new workers in the age of telework to negotiating worker-friendly contracts, from building political power through PEOPLE to advancing gender identity and justice, from training stewards to protecting Social Security and Medicare.

Curious about how you can share your personal story and move people to action? There’s a workshop for that. Want to know how to recruit activists and build stronger locals? Attend a training session specifically on that issue. Wondering how to effectively lobby members of Congress? Come learn more about how to do that.

Some of the other training sessions will teach you how to navigate social identities, protect against cybersecurity attacks and make the economy function for working people.

You can find the workshop agenda and other details here. Or check the convention app.

Pick up valuable skills and make connections with your fellow union members from all over the country who are facing similar challenges as you. The workshops will help you acquire crucial knowledge to propel your union — and the labor movement — into a brighter future.
