Heroic HGEA members led the Pledge of Allegiance on convention’s opening day

By AFSCME Staff ,

HGEA members put the convention theme, “Front Line and Fearless,” on full display when they recited the Pledge of Allegiance on the opening day of the 46th AFSCME International Convention.

After last year’s Maui wildfires, members of the Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA/AFSCME Local 152) and United Public Workers Hawaii (UPW/AFSCME Local 646) showed what it means to be fearless on the front lines as they helped their communities rebuild.

The wildfires claimed at least 115 people, upended the lives of hundreds of AFSCME members and drove many from their homes. Some lost their homes altogether.

In honor of their heroism and service, HGEA members led convention attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance on Monday. They remind us of what it means to be “Front Line and Fearless.
