On Thursday, Aug. 15, show your PEOPLE pride by wearing your favorite PEOPLE T-shirt at the Los Angeles convention. It’s PEOPLE T-shirt Day!
PEOPLE is our union’s political action committee, or PAC. It’s how we raise money to elect officials at all levels of government who understand, respect and advocate for people in public service.
This Thursday, we’re encouraging all convention participants to support our political program and show their union pride by wearing a PEOPLE T-shirt. Limited-edition, commemorative T-shirts celebrating AFSCME’s 46th International Convention are on sale at the PEOPLE booth, located in the Exhibit Hall.
In addition to special PEOPLE merchandise, you will find sweatshirts and polos, as well as accessories including buttons, tote bags, glassware and more, at the PEOPLE booth. All purchases are contributions towards AFSCME PEOPLE and will help elect pro-worker, pro-union candidates in 2024 and beyond*.
PEOPLE stands for Public Employees Organized to Promote Legislative Equality. Want to know more about PEOPLE and our union’s involvement in politics? There’s a convention workshop for that. It’s called PEOPLE: How Politics Impacts Your Life. Please check the Delegate Guide or convention website for more information.
Or stop by the PEOPLE Q&A booth, also in the Exhibit Hall. At the Q&A booth, you can ask questions about PEOPLE and sign up to become a PEOPLE MVP.
*Contributions or gifts to AFSCME PEOPLE are not deductible for federal income tax purposes. All contributions to AFSCME PEOPLE are voluntary and will be used to support pro-worker candidates in federal, state, and local elections. Any contribution guideline is only a suggestion, and you may contribute more or less than that amount or nothing at all, and you will not be favored or disadvantaged because of your contribution amount or decision not to contribute, in accordance with federal law. AFSCME PEOPLE accepts contributions only from AFSCME members, executive and administrative personnel, and their families. Contributions from other persons will be returned. Federal law requires us to use our best effort to obtain and report the name, address, occupation, and employer of each individual whose contributions exceed $200 in a calendar year.
