Learn how to harness the power of your AFSCME story to strengthen your union and build power for working families.
Stories in Action, a workshop offered by AFSCME International’s Communications Department at the Los Angeles convention, will teach you how to unleash the power of your stories to move people to action. Check the convention website for details.
You will also practice effective tactics you can use anywhere — whether you are testifying in front of elected officials, talking to the press, posting on social media or even speaking one on one with friends and neighbors. You will learn to identify key parts of your stories and use them to highlight the union difference.
At the end of the workshop, participants will be encouraged to visit the Stories in Action pod in the Exhibit Hall to record their AFSCME stories in front of a camera. They can also visit the “Our Stories, Our Power” exhibit to see examples of effective stories told by AFSCME members who have undergone this training.
