Sector Roundtables

Sector roundtables will be held on Tuesday, August 13, at 7:30 a.m. in the LACC. These roundtables provide a great opportunity to learn from colleagues in your sector from a variety of workplaces. We will discuss common concerns and issues while identifying strong organizing opportunities and sharing best practices.

These roundtables will be held simultaneously before the Convention begins. Check the app and signage for room numbers.

Administration and Finance - Room 515A
Anyone who works in government administrative functions, including budget and finance, IT, courts, regulations and enforcement or similar functions.

Behavioral Health - Room 404
Anyone who works in the areas of developmental disabilities or mental health, including intermediate-care facilities for the developmentally disabled (ICFs/DD), county mental health or DD departments, state psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, substance abuse/chemical dependency units, sheltered workshops and group homes. 

Child Support and Child Welfare* - Room 402
Anyone who works in the administration or enforcement of child support. 

Corrections, Probation and Parole - Room 515B
Anyone who works in the adult or juvenile corrections systems. 

Cultural Workers - Room 306
Anyone who works in a library, museum or any other cultural institution. 

Early Childhood Education - Room 503
Anyone who works for a Head Start or other pre-K program, in family child care, for a child care center or for a before-or-after school child care program. 

Emergency Medical Services - Room 308
Anyone who works in emergency medical services, disaster response, 911 dispatch or other emergency services. 

Employment and Vocational Services and Public Assistance - Room 408A
Anyone who works for an agency that administers unemployment insurance, job placement or training, vocational counseling or rehabilitation or similar services. 

Environmental Protection and Parks* - Room 408B
Anyone who works for an agency that manages or protects the environment, or for a parks and recreation agency. 

Health Care - Room 406
Anyone who works for a hospital, a hospital-affiliated clinic, hospital system, a free-standing rehabilitation clinic or an outpatient medical clinic. 

Higher Education - Room 309
Anyone who works in a post-secondary educational institution, including a college, university or technical school. 

Home Care - Room 502A
Anyone who provides health care or other support and services in a home setting. 

Housing - Room 511
Anyone who works in an agency that provides housing services. 

K-12 - Room 403B
Anyone who works in elementary, junior/middle or high school. 

Law Enforcement - Room 409
Anyone who works as an officer in an agency with law enforcement responsibilities. 

Long-Term Care - Room 501
Anyone who works for a facility where patients receive long-term medical care or other support or services. This includes nursing homes, assisted living and facilities for people with mental illnesses or developmental disabilities. 

Public Works - Room 403A
Anyone who works for an agency that provides public works services, including solid waste collection or disposal, water or wastewater treatment or other services. 

Transportation* - Room 502B
Anyone who works for an agency that designs, builds, maintains or operates transportation systems including roads, public transit, bridges, airports, ports, ferries and parking facilities and taxis.
